A six-card illustrated series introducing Chinese New Year traditions through a storybook-style visual narrative.
Chinese New Year Traditions is a six-card illustrated series designed to introduce and celebrate Lunar New Year customs. Created in a storybook style, the cards are arranged sequentially to narrate the progression of the holiday.
The first and last cards function as the cover and back cover, using a distinct color palette to frame the series like a book. The illustrations were drawn in Procreate using pre-installed brushes on an iPad with Apple Pencil, and arranged in Photoshop on a 13 × 19 inch canvas.
The series includes New Year greetings in traditional Hanfu, decorating with lanterns and the 福 character, receiving red envelopes, a family reunion dinner featuring symbolic foods, the lion dance, and fireworks that reference the legend of Nian.
